"The Neat and Pretty Girl at My New School, a Childhood Friend I Played with, Thinking She Was a Boy" is a romantic comedy about the awkwardness of growing up and how the past suddenly comes back at the worst possible time. The hero transfers to a new school, hoping to start over from scratch, but almost immediately meets a classmate, in whom he recognizes his old friend from childhood games. Back then, she was a tomboy to him, a companion on adventures and someone with whom he didn't have to pretend, and he truly thought of her as a boy. Now in front of him is a neat, confident girl who remembers everything he said and did, and is clearly not going to let this story go just like that. The series is built on funny situations, jealousy, attempts to save face and warm scenes where the characters learn to be honest again. Behind the humor lies an important theme, how people's perceptions change as they grow up, and how difficult it is to accept that your childhood best friend can become your strongest feeling. This is a light story about friendship, first love and the courage to accept that the past does not interfere with the future if you are willing to look straight.
